The Family Violence Awareness Week is focused on creating awareness across the territory and promoting a change in attitudes and behaviours as we strive to address, reduce, and ultimately, bring an end to family violence.
Community FVAW event
The Status of Women Council works with numerous partners to plan our annual Family Violence Awareness Week. Currently, there are community events planned in Aklavik, Colville Lake, Deline, Fort Good Hope, Fort Liard, Fort McPherson, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik, Ndilo, Norman Wells, Paulatuk, Sambaa K’e, Tsiigehtchic, Tuktoyaktuk, Tulita, Ulukhaktok, and Wrigley. We are also hosting a community event in Yellowknife on October 21st to kick-off the NWT’s Family Violence Awareness Week.
